Located on the River Thames at Woolich Readh is the Thames Barrier. It's the world's 2nd largest movable flood barrier. The Thames Barrier was designed by Rendel, Palmer and Tritton for the GLC. Work began in 1974 and was largely completed in 1982.

This photograph shoes the light of the setting sun on the barrier.
